I thought so much about whether this was the place to showcase our baby's nursery. But I figured since my client's share so many of their milestones with me, why not share one of mine with them?
Backstory: December 2019 was a rough month for me. I learned some business lessons the hard way and my confidence was shaken. After a few therapy sessions and lots of tears, I realized a few things. First, that I was actually overreacting and that what had happened had served to teach me a lesson and I learnt and I was bigger and better because of it. Secondly, it put my life and business into perspective. I noticed I had been prioritizing growing my business and having a career over my family and I didn't like that. And at the beginning of this year I decided I was finally ready to become a mom.
On April 2020, I got two positive pregnancy tests. Then had to take 2 more after that to convince myself that baby was in fact in there! I just couldn't believe how fast that happened for us. I know this is NOT the case for many women - and I can't even begin to understand how you feel but I pray for you. But I felt blessed, scared, anxious but sooo excited.
Fast forward to May, we found out we were having a baby GIRL! I just couldn't believe how happy I was. I've always dreamed of having a daughter and just couldn't believe another one of my dreams was coming true.
We ended up closing on a house in our beloved neighborhood at the end of May and after a few projects we moved in. Shortly after that, Reagan ended up having Covid 😩 which was so unfortunate. He ended up having to quarantine on the upper level of our house for 14 days. By Day 3 he was feeling much better but was completely bored so he decided to get started with the baby's room. He placed an online order at Lowe's and I ended up picking up all the materials he needed to get started.
So here's the BEFORE photo! We had carpet, an old-school light fixture, beige paint on the walls and that was about it.
And here are some progress photos:
Reagan did wainscoting work on the walls. The bottom half of the wall is painted EXTRA WHITE by Sherwin Williams. The top half of the wall is a mix of WHITE TRUFFLE and ROMANCE, both Sherwin Williams. The photos don't do a very good job showing the actual color of the walls.
The carpet was replaced by vinyl planks.
We chose the theme Ballerina but didn't want the theme to explode everywhere. We wanted it to be girly, delicate, but also easy to change out if we got tired of it or in case she didn't like it when she got a bit older.
It was also important to me that the room was calm and soothing. I love colorful playrooms but I like nurseries and bedrooms to be a place for relaxing and resting.
I really wanted her furniture to be long lasting. So we went with a 5 in 1 convertible crib so she can use it for years to come!
